CHOOSING LED LIGHT FOR YOUR HOME

Did you know the cost of lighting up your home makes up over a quarter of your total electric bills? This is a key reason you should invest in the most cost effective and energy efficient light bulbs on the market. Consider turning your home into a LED light zone.

Most lighting materials contribute to global pollution. Switching to LED, or Low Emitting Diode lighting, can make a world of difference.

Why Make the Switch to LED Lights

This type of lighting has many benefits. LED lights are cost effective. They will save you money by lowering your electric bill. LED lights are long-lasting. They will emit light for up to 50,000 hours, eight times longer that CFL’s (Compact Fluorescent Lights), which have a maximum lifespan of 8,000 hours. LED lights are durable. A lead bulb can bounce on the floor and not break. CFL bulbs are fragile and can easily break, releasing a small amount of mercury which can pose a problem.

LED’s save energy. These bulbs use 75-percent less energy than incandescent bulbs use. CFL’s use 25-35% less than traditional light bulbs. LED’s are efficient. CFL bulbs emit nearly 80% of their energy as heat, while LED bulbs release very little or no energy as heat. LED lights are environmentally friendly. They contain no hazardous materials and can be efficiently disposed of. Many local home improvement or hardware stores will recycle them for you.

Types of LED Lights for Your Home

LED’s are small and directional, making them perfect for lighting tight spaces, such as countertops or under cabinets. Recessed downlights are often used in residential kitchens, hallways and bathrooms.

LED’s are also great for holiday decorating. They consume far less electricity than incandescent bulbs and are cooler to the touch. They are also easy to install and up to 25 strings can be connected without overloading a wall socket.

LED lights can be dimmed and allow you to control the intensity. They also come in a variety of colors to match any room in your home. Be sure to pick the right type for your needs. Soft LED lights give off a warm and cozy tone, while cool LEDs can brighten up a game room.

If you feel your home needs a lighting upgrade, LED lights are a great option to consider. Make your home a comfy and cozy place for family and visitors. Switching to LED lights also saves money, energy and helps the environment too.
